With more than 17 years of executive search experience, Tim joined Carlyle Group in 2008 as a partner and managing director focusing on the firm’s Industrial Markets and Life Sciences and Healthcare Practices.
Tim O’Donnell is based in the Chicago office. Prior to joining Carlyle, Tim was a partner in the industrial and life sciences practices of another leading search firm. His search experience spans the chemicals, biotechnology/biopharmaceutical, medical device/technology and industrial manufacturing markets. Clients have included Fortune 500 corporations and foreign-owned companies, as well as privately held companies. Tim has provided significant value-added consultation to mid-size, high-growth companies in meeting their unique leadership requirements.
With a strong international focus, coordinating the worldwide recruiting needs of clients, Tim has completed numerous senior-level engagements at both the chief executive officer and functional-leadership level, including operations, marketing and sales, human resources, R&D and finance.
Before becoming a professional search consultant, Tim served in sales/marketing and technology positions with General Electric and Mulay Plastics. As marketing and sales director at Mulay, he was responsible for the company’s marketing strategy, implementing regional development plans and staffing the sales organization. With GE, he played a key role in commercial development for their plastics business group. He was awarded six patents during his earlier years at GE’s Corporate Research and Development Center.
Tim has an MBA from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in chemistry from the State University of New York.
